ABOUT ME
Collene Mear
La Maison Childcare
Growing up I always knew I wanted to be a mother. I was blessed to have two generations of maternal care at home as a child. Going back to work after the birth of my first child was challenging for me. I was fortunate that my parents were able to be my caregivers. As wonderful as that was, it was an extreme sacrifice of their “golden years”.
My mission as a childcare provider is to support the family unit as a whole. I experienced the struggle of the need for a two family income after the birth of each of our six children. My background includes, most importantly being a parent of Liam, KK, Aidan, John E, Gemma and Sean, 23 years in banking, compliance and management, working for the Archdiocese of Chicago, a nanny position, and my passion of teaching fine art skills to children. I have been extremely active on church boards, school committees, chamber of commerce, 7th and 8th grade catechist and running Fortnightly in my kid’s middle school for many of years.

MY APPROACH

La Maison is designed to be a warm and inviting environment for the child. The toys throughout the house are stored in baskets for the creative experience. Through the guided play, we will focus on imagination, social interaction, manners and creativity.
The toys are all chosen to have a purpose for learning as well as fine and large motor skills.
We will read and spend time outdoors in nature.
We will work together through open communication to make La Maison a home away from home for your child, a place where they can thrive and you can be assured they are not only being cared for, but cared about.

Or as the kiddos may call me: “Miss Lis” or “Mama Lisa.” I am a citizen of both the US and Hungary. I have earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degrees. My vocational training is pastoral. I’ve served as a youth director, missionary, student pastor, and resident chaplain.

It is my joy is to help your child(ren) increase in their confidence and sense of self by continuing their sense of security from your home into ours, and then into school when their time comes. By collaborating with you, we accept and adopt your home care plan for your child whenever possible, as much as is possible!
